Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly innovative and experienced Hybrid Aerospace Propulsion Engineer to join our Aviation R&D team in Munich. This role is crucial for advancing MTU Aero Engines‘ leadership in sustainable aviation. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the conceptualization, design, and analysis of novel hybrid propulsion systems for next-generation aircraft. You will work within an interdisciplinary team, contributing to the full lifecycle of R&D projects, from initial feasibility studies to detailed system integration and performance validation. Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

  • Lead and contribute to the conceptual design and analysis of hybrid-electric and other novel propulsion architectures for aviation applications.
  • Perform detailed system-level modeling, simulation, and performance analysis of hybrid propulsion components and integrated systems.
  • Evaluate various energy storage systems (e.g., batteries, fuel cells) and power electronics for aerospace integration.
  • Conduct trade-off studies to optimize propulsion system performance, efficiency, weight, and emissions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners, including universities and research institutions, on advanced technology development.
  • Define and review technical requirements, specifications, and test plans for propulsion system demonstrators.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to project stakeholders and management.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in aerospace propulsion, hybrid systems, and sustainable aviation technologies.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace propulsion system design, analysis, or research, specifically with hybrid-electric concepts.
  • Strong expertise in thermodynamic cycles, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles related to propulsion.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar for system modeling and analysis.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX) for conceptual design.
  • Solid understanding of electrical power systems, power electronics, and energy storage technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

  • Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience with fuel cell technology, hydrogen propulsion, or other alternative aviation fuels.
  • Knowledge of aircraft integration challenges and certification processes.
  • Familiarity with optimization techniques and multi-objective design space exploration.
  • German language skills.
