Join ABB’s innovative E-Mobility division in Zurich as a Hybrid Battery Cell Development Engineer. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the research, design, development, and testing of advanced battery cells for various hybrid and electric vehicle applications. You will work within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team to push the boundaries of energy storage technology, contributing to next-generation e-mobility solutions. Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of hybrid battery cell architectures and materials for specific E-mobility applications.
• Conduct electrochemical performance testing, data analysis, and failure mode analysis on battery cells and prototypes.
• Collaborate with material scientists, mechanical engineers, and system integrators to ensure seamless integration of battery cells into larger battery packs and vehicle systems.
• Develop and implement robust testing protocols for battery cells, including cycle life, calendar life, safety, and abuse testing.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in battery technology, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Contribute to intellectual property development through patent applications and technical disclosures.
• Ensure all development activities comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in battery cell development, specifically with Li-ion or other advanced battery chemistries.
• Strong understanding of electrochemical principles, battery degradation mechanisms, and cell manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in battery testing equipment and data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Origin).
• Experience with battery modeling and simulation tools.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• PhD in a relevant field.
• Experience with solid-state batteries or other next-generation battery technologies.
• Knowledge of battery management systems (BMS) and battery pack integration.
• Familiarity with automotive industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262, UN 38.3).
• Proficiency in German is a plus.
