We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Beekeeping Assistant to join our growing team in Graz, Austria. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals passionate about nature, sustainable agriculture, and the indispensable role of bees in our ecosystem. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced apiarists, providing essential support across all facets of hive management and honey production. This role demands physical resilience, meticulous attention to detail, and a readiness to learn and work diligently outdoors in various weather conditions.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Assist with routine hive inspections, including checking for queen presence, brood patterns, and overall hive health.
• Feed bees with sugar syrup or pollen substitutes as required to support colony strength.
• Harvest honey frames and provide support during the honey extraction and processing stages.
• Clean and maintain beekeeping equipment, tools, and ensure the apiary site is kept tidy and functional.
• Prepare hives for seasonal transitions, including comprehensive winterization and effective swarm prevention measures.
• Monitor hives for pests and diseases, and assist in implementing appropriate, timely treatments.
• Accurately document all hive activities, observations, and relevant data.
• Aid in the safe and careful transportation of hives to different locations when necessary.
• Strictly adhere to all established safety protocols and best practices in beekeeping operations.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Profound interest in beekeeping, agriculture, or environmental conservation.
• Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy hive bodies (up to 25 kg).
• Comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions and in close proximity to bees.
• Exceptional attention to detail and keen observation skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and capable of collaborating effectively within a team setting.
• Basic understanding of tools and equipment maintenance.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new beekeeping techniques and innovations.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Previous practical experience in beekeeping, even as a dedicated hobbyist, is highly advantageous.
• Fundamental knowledge of bee biology, common bee diseases, and prevalent pests.
• Possession of a valid driver's license (Class B).
• Current First Aid certification.
